GTC Dehydration Process

Most efficient in separating water from Acetic Acid GTC combines Liquid-Liquid Extraction (LLE) and Azeotropic Distillation (AZE) in the PTA Dehydration section and by doing so takes advantage of both processes. The feed runs partially into the LLE where water is rejected to the bottom and the extract is sent to be treated in the AZE along with the rest of the feed to significantly ease the loading of the AZE section. GTC’s patented LLE process can be easily added to the AZE and work as combined system for the instant optimum performance. GTC offers both the LLE-AZE combined system and the standalone AZE system, as well as a revamp of current AZE systems by adding the LLE. GTC’s high-performance tower internals are used with the GTC Dehydration Process. Advantages

  • Wide array of products & services
  •  Combination of process and equipment solution
  •  GT-OPTIM™ tray
  • GT-AQUA™ PAK structured packing
  • Customer preference & reputation
  • Azeotropic separation can be applied in VAM, BDO
  • Commercial data available

For implementation of GTC’s LLE system into AZE (compared to standalone AZE), advantages include:

  • Capacity increment of 10-15%
  • Significant energy saving
  • Comparison table
