Sulzer GTC Technology will supply its GT-BTX® process to STEAS (Socar Turkey Energy AS) at a new aromatics and PTA complex in Aliaga, Turkey. The new complex, being constructed at the existing STEAS PETKIM petrochemical site, includes an aromatics plant producing paraxylene (PX) and a PTA plant.
McDermott Inc. won the project award for the complex that includes the GT-BTX aromatics extraction technology.
“The award is a continuation of the strong business relationship between McDermott and Sulzer GTC for the supply of our aromatics extraction technology along with McDermott’s PX complex as well as their ethylene cracker complex technology”, said Sachin Joshi, Director of Licensing for Sulzer GTC in the Middle East and India.
GTC’s scope of work will include licensing, basic design engineering package, proprietary tower internals and Techtiv® 500 Solvent.
