GTC has a series of polyester technologies, which apply in case-specific situations. These all integrate together to improve process efficiency, solve specific problems, or make selective debottlenecks. GTC's portfolio includes paraxylene and meta-xylene raw materials, DMT and PTA, and continuous melt phase polymerization for PET.
Carboxylic Acid Recovery Technology
GT-CAR® is GTC's carboxylic acid recovery technology that combines liquid-liquid extraction technology with distillation to recover and concentrate carboxylic acids from wastewater. Using a high-boiling solvent enables the process to attain the lowest energy use of any commercially available process with minimal capital costs. The recovered acids have sufficient purity to be sold as glacial grade or recycled back to the process. The biological oxygen demand (BOD) of the resulting wastewater stream is greatly reduced. The process is economical for any aqueous stream generated in the production of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), acetic acid, pulp/paper. furfural, and other processes.

Dimethyl Terephthalate Technology
GTC has extensive experience in dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) plant revamps. Modifications to the traditional process for manufacturing dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) can significantly improve results including capacity increase, yield improvements, reduced energy consumption, and upgrade of by-product quality for increased commercial value. GTC's dimethyl terephthalate technology is flexible and may be implemented in increments. GTC can optimize the design or configuration to maximize use of existing equipment.
